I never see anyone talking about eating salad. I will be 4 weeks post-op on Wednesday, and still on mushies but hoping that after I see my doc next Tuesday that he will let me proceed to a more normal diet. I'm craving salad! Just a small spinach salad with grilled chicken and a little light raspberry vinagrette sounds awesome to me! Do VSG'rs tend to have a problem with salad? I hope not.........but do tell!

Well besides the above comments you need to remember that we are severely limited on our food intake. You need to choose carefully what you eat and mainly concentrate on eating Protein rather than carbs or vegetables. Protein gives you the "most bang for your buck" out of any food, so it's best to eat t at the expense of other foods like salads.

I started eating real salads at about 3 months post op. I eat the same type as you the mixed baby greens or spinach salads. I have not really had a problem with them, and adding lean white chicken breast works fantastic.

I'm more of a well balanced eater I guess, and getting my green veggies is super important for my health. I still get in 80g-100g of Protein daily so I'm not really worried about eating some other things to stay balanced and healthy.

Everyone's journey is their own, make the most out of yours!! :)

I ate a very small green salad last night with no problems. I chewed well and it went down easily. I really felt like I needed some roughage and just that little cup of greens with some fat free thousand island dressing was so satisfying!

I am 2 months out and was given the go ahead for regular food at one month.

I will not eat meat with my salad so I've had to chose to not have salad since I still need to focus on my Protein each day! I know one of these days I'll give in and have a salad though because I miss them!!

I was allowed to start back on Salads at my 1 month mark, but because salad is so hard to Digest I didn't want to take any chances with it so I held off on it. I finally enjoyed 1 yesterday at 2 months out and I have to say I'm glad I waited because I still had a bit of a struggle with it. I felt all hot and sweaty and like I was going to get sick to my stomach. I took my time 30-45 minutes to eat what I ate so I knows it's not because I ate to fast. I'm thinking about holding off just a couple of more weeks before I try it again..

With salad it really is best to take your time, and go slow the first time. If it doesn't agree wait it out another month. I didn't start eating salads until 3 months out, and I haven't had any issues at all.

I could not wait to eat salad, I would watch other people buying it in the store wishing I could have it. After 12 weeks my nut said I could try it and I've had no problems. I agree with LilMissDiva I need to find room for some greens for health reasons. I mix chicken or other meat in it, I love it.

Well thanks for everyone's feedback. Looks like I may be waiting another month or two before that would work well for me. However, I know that I will need to incorporate some greens & veggies into my diet. As long as I'm getting in the Protein that I need that should not be an issue. I love grilled chicken in a salad, and they are healthy carbs.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
