10 day post op food intake

Recommended Posts

so on day 7 I was allowed to add yogurts so I did. Couldn't even finish half. Now today I just finished the whole thing in like 20 minutes. Is that ok? I feel like I shouldn't be able to eat that much. I was afraid I wouldn't feel full either as I was finishing it up. But i'm starting to get full feeling now. I hope I didn't mes something up. If you haven't noticed from my other posts i'm a worry wort. Lol

well to be honest with you I was on Clear Liquids for the first two weeks after surgery. the third week I was on thick liquids like yougurt and sugarfree pudding. I had sugery the 1st so I am a little bit further out than you but I am almost able to finish a yougurt I usually leave maybe a ounce left in the cup. For some reason or another yogurts with fruit seem to feel me up faster. When I eat vanilla yogurt I usually finish all of it. Any way so I guess if you are doing something wrong than I am too. So good luck I really don't think that either one of us is doing anything wrong. The most important thing is to eat really slow and listen to your body when it says its full put it down.. I think your doing well though..

I am 8 days out and I can finish a sugar-free Jello pudding. It takes about 20-30 minutes, but I don't have any problem finishing it. First few days I was wondering if I could get enough liquids down to not dehydrate, and now I am worried I can eat too much. Maybe that's normal, I don't know.

I think you are fine so long as you listen when your stomach tells you to stop. I do find if I eat too quickly that I sometimes can eat a bit too much and feel nauseous afterwards, so watch out for that! Also, yogurt might be considered a bit of a slider food since it's semi-liquid. I know I can eat almost a cup of Soup, but I still can only eat an ounce or so of chicken...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
