Eating bread

Recommended Posts

My Dr or Nutritionist told me not to eat bread (I can't remember how long) for a good while after surgery because of possible "balling" issues. My question is would really toasted toast be ok? I am almost 4 weeks out.

I am not sure, but here is my thinking. bread at almost 4 weeks out was NOT on my plan. Therefore I wouldn't eat it.

In my opinion you are not far enough out yet...sorry if that wasn't the answer you were looking for!

I really wouldn't eat bread at 4 weeks since there is no Protein value to it. However, I have had a few saltines with my tuna to help satisfy my bread craving.

And they do sit heavy on my stomach. Again, not on the meal plan, but I compromised with unleavened bread (not risen with yeast) to minimize the "balling" effect. I have also had a bite of pita with my hummus and did okay with that. But I do this sparsely due to the nutritional value. At 4 weeks out, you should be going into the solids soon. I would just concentrate on getting that protein in through food. Protein first, veggies second, carbs last.

Well see that's kind of my thing. The nutritionist at the required "class" talked a little about breads but never quite (that I remember) said why it's not so good. Is it the carbs? The doc said I could start experimenting with diff foods and such. So I thought I'd ask :)

And it really has nothing to do with wanting to hear. I can honestly take or leave breads. Just sounded kind of good this morning for a change.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
