brazcan 37 Posted February 21, 2011 I am wondering what laxative is safe and effective at 2 weeks post op. Do they pose any danger to the sleeve/stomach?
Tiffykins 673 Posted February 21, 2011 I was warned to stay away from stimulant laxatives and to only use stool softeners. Miralax was recommended OTC and docusate sodium was prescribed to me upon discharge.
Rootman 1,101 Posted February 21, 2011 Tiffykins is right Miralax works wonders.
NJMOMof2 17 Posted February 21, 2011 I didn't go to the bathroom 2 weeks post op. I was afraid to take anything so I just let nature take its course. But I use miralax and have had no problems with it.
klus263 9 Posted February 21, 2011 I use Miralax twice a week. It is the best.
Dawn 16 Posted February 21, 2011 I was prescribed a stool softener and it does it's job just great!
MICHELLE LEE 19 Posted February 21, 2011 Miralax is great..You can mix it in crystal light or flavored water. It has no taste and dissolve well. I also use Smooth Move Tea a few times a week just to keep things regular.
Brother J 11 Posted February 22, 2011 Prune juice also works.
InProgress 3 Posted February 22, 2011 I just heard about some tea they sell at Kroger here and another you can find at Walmart. The WM one had Senna in it (which makes sense since Sennacot (sp?) is a laxative or still softener. I'll find the names and post them. I plan to stock up just in case. InProgress 3 Posted February 22, 2011 Just to clarify: I am not suggesting these at 2 weeks out, I am pre-surg and profess no knowledge of what your doc will suggest. Tiffy's advice rings very true not to put too much stress on yourself at this point and she is definitely a veteran. I just heard about these this morning at work and was excited to share my new 'knowledge' because this seems to be an issue a lot of people struggle with and I am rarely able to add anything of any significance other than the occasional attaboy or thank you, ma'am.
