NewSho 20 Posted June 21, 2006 Hilarious! This was just covered on our local news too. And when i've had to cancel it for friends and family (I refuse to use it) the process has gone very similar to that. By the way AOL officials say this rep has been fired, but we all know there are hundreds more just like him. AOL = EVIL :heh: Happy Band (And Life) Journeys To All... TrishS 3 Posted June 21, 2006 Yes he was fired... and there are some really nice AOL reps out there. But there are also so many other companies that have mean people working, not just AOL. Plus some of the people that call into AOL are really really rude, and AOL employees have to take it. I dont think its a great way to live and work, but thats where this world is at. Mean people on the phone on the road in stores and resturants. They are all over!
JMO 0 Posted June 21, 2006 AOL = devil in my home. We had them on a three month free trial basis. At the end of the three months they sent me a card saying if I stayed I could get it for 14.99mnth so I signed it and sent it back. Then I got my bill.... 28.99+5.00 (They said the five dollars was a charge from my bank, but it said aol by the charge) Yeah right.... So I called, They refused to honor offer and said they never got it, Then This woman (saleslady) kept me on the phone for 45 mins trying to sale me everyplan under then sun. I said Nope not unless it's 14.99 a month. So we agreed to cancel the account. And I even told her to send me a letter that it was canceled. I got a new internet service and got my bank statment the next month. This theif (salelady) signed me up for the yearly rate. Over 200.00, I was livid. It took me 6 months to get them to cancel my account. Everyone kept telling me they did but then they would not cancel it. I got a letter from an law company because they were in a class action law suit but I never joined it.. But it was for un-athorized charging people accounts.. Exactly what they did to me. Go figure...
Wheetsin 714 Posted June 21, 2006 Uhhh... that's surprisingly accurate. Our cable modem was down one night, on the same night that I had a school project due. Out of desperation I used one of the free AOL cds. I must have said "just cancel the account" at least 10 times - and that's a conservative guess. I tried to be polite, but that didn't last too long. I've been in a bind with internet connection since then, and I just pack up my laptop and head to Starbuck's or something... heck, evem McD's here has wireless in the lobby, and I'd rather sit in greasy quarter pounder air than deal with AOhell. BTW, I used to work in a call center - not on the phones, but I ran their training program. When one of our executives left, someone from AOhell took their place. Person made a lot of changes. Our customer satisfaction numbers were never lower. Our customers kept saying, "Forget the smile, just give me an answer. How come no one there can answer my questions any more?" maudeispam 2 Posted June 22, 2006 There is nothing more annoying than getting a rude customer service rep. The policy should be that the customer is always right no matter what. JMO. I also get very frustrated when you call any customer service line and get someone who can barely speak english. It is VERY annoying to have them keep repeating them selves or to have to ask for a manager or someone else to finish the call. UGH!
Morsaille 4 Posted June 22, 2006 I used an AOL cd in order to find an ISP online. It was OK until the month was nearly over. I called and they put me on hold. I couldn't wait that long so hung up after 45 minutes! When I called back two days later, the call would not connect. Just a nice long beep. I sent a cancellation note/request through the mail and only had a few marketing calls after that. B*****ds
