Does your metabolism slow down?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering for those of you who are a ways out if you feel like your metabolism slows down after surgery. I know right after surgery everything is crazy, but what about a ways out? Is there a way to increase your metabolism? I haven't talked with a nutritionist or dietician yet. Just wondering

Yes it can slow down as the body heals. The brain and various glands also does a remarkable job of slowing the metabolism and slowing other things like hair or even nail growth. It does this to divert energy to the healing of the parts injured by the surgery. You will feel tired and may decrease your activities because of the tiredness. It cannot do this indefinitely and will return to a level close to the original once it has run it's course and "accepted" the lowered calorie intake as normal.

However the body cannot break the laws of physics. It requires energy to function and when the amount of fresh energy is reduced by the caloric limitations of dieting it is forced to draw from its stored resources in the fat cells it has so carefully packed away.

Yes it does, especially if you don't get enough calories in and as your weight drops your basic metabolic rates drops also.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
