Surgey scheduled for the 7th of March. Down 3lbs in two weeks. Goal is to lose 10 before day of surgery. Pushing the fluids hard. Hope I can do it.

Are you doing pre-op shakes? I have a week of shakes to do before my op on March 1st, but have started a couple of days early. It's hard but do-able. Let's get those livers of ours shrunk down to size!B)

Good luck over the next couple of weeks

No pre-op shakes. Water, sf Jello (lots of water) salads. I'm wondering if I'm begining to look like a rabbit. LOL.

We have our surgery on the same day. I had to start my pre-op diet today. I am at work and everybody is eating lunch and I am ready to start choking people. I also had to ditch my Diet Coke. It was a great relationship. I have not been through a breakup this bad in years....lol

If you need any help make sure to stay in touch...:)

I have been on the liquid diet for 1 week. I have lost 20 pounds. It is very hard to stay on it, but I am trying my best. I have had a few things to eat here and there, but very very little! I see my dr tomorrow for pre-op. Surgery is Monday, Feb 28!

Good luck and the really hard days seem to be Days 1 through 4. After that, it is a little easier!

Yesterday, I did so well with my diet. only fruits and vegetables. We are getting a storm tomorrow, so I stopped at the store on my way home from work this morning and I shopped HUNGRY. I go monday to hopefully get scheduled for the surgery. I will just accept what happened and move on.

What kind of liquids do you take in on the liquid diet besides Water?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
