~c~ 1 Posted April 23, 2004 http://www.inamed.com/pdf/health/94829F_LB_Patient_Book.pdf This is the Inamed patient booklet(providing you have an inamed band)But i would check with the doctor if his info is different than this.Protein shakes are mentioned alot here.I don't drink these but you can check out what people say by looking at the older posts. I am glad you feel better, the first week is tough but once you recover and start eating solids you will feel 100% Walking helped me alot with gas. Some people like to use gasX and the like. Congrats on you succecssful surgery!!!! Chantal
Alexandra 55 Posted April 23, 2004 Hi Ginny, Congratulations! Your getting hungry is a good sign that you're healing well...it's perfectly normal and in good time. Now you should think about adding thicker types of liquids to your diet so you don't get so hungry you can't deal. I loved serious Soups when I was in this stage: things like bisques, oyster stew, all sorts of chicken Soup and bean soup. Just make sure the solids are soft, chew the little pieces as well as you can and wait a bit between any bites that include anything beside liquid. As far as the gas goes, I don't have any advice on that score. Time is what it took for me to stop feeling the effects. I'm sure it will pass for you too, before long. Welcome to bandland, Ginny!

msknow 0 Posted April 23, 2004 Someone mentioned in an earlier post Mylicon liquid (I think babies take it for gas) and simethicone (I think it's a pure form of something that reduces gas. I don't know personally, since I haven't had the surgery yet. Good luck with it. Laura
gretat 0 Posted April 23, 2004 Hi Ginny, We are banderversary buddies!! How are you doing and feeling? Getting hungry and feeling like you could sit and eat and eat and eat? I imagine eating a peice of pizza or anything that I can bite into and chew and feel in my stomach. LOL Hopefully, the therapy that I am in will help me stop overeating in my head so that I can stop thinking of food all the time. I am doing the "mushies" now. They seem to keep my tummy from rumbling a longer period of time. Cottage cheese, egg beaters, mashed potatoes and gravy. All the soft carbs that I had to avoid the 2 weeks prior to the surgery. When is your post-op appointment? As far as the gas, walk, walk, walk. I think even 10 minutes at a time is good. Take care!! Greta
Joyce 0 Posted April 23, 2004 I have a question. Does it hurt when they take the staples out? I have had a c-section.But the staples is in a different place. thanks Joyce

I'll call them the "3 amigos". these three had thier bands done on the same day as my wife. All three of these guys are pastors at churches in thier hometown in texas. You always knew when one of them would PASS GAS. Out of the blue one would say Praise God ! with a look of relief. and the others would agree.
GinnyWhite 0 Posted April 24, 2004 Thanks to everyone for you suggestions I finally tried some Soup what a relief. I still have the gas but I guess that will pass. As for the staples I haven't had mine out yet I go Monday for my follow up visit.
DeLarla 22 Posted April 24, 2004 My surgery is in 2 weeks so I'm glad to see someone that just had it. As far as the gas, may I be frank? Heck, we are all either obese or were once overweight enough to need surgery, so I'm sure we've all had more than the world's fair share of gas. My suggestion is to let it rip! I'm sorry if that's so crude, but I want someone to talk to so bad that it doesn't even matter if it's just someone criticizing my rude manners. Hello... is there anybody out there? Just nod if you can hear me... is there anyone at home????
one gone dog 0 Posted April 24, 2004 I'm gonna blame the dog.
texasbelle 0 Posted April 24, 2004 For gas I'm still recommending Mylicon drops for infants. It is fast and effective. I found I had gas and would have loved to "let it rip" but it seemed to be stuck!! Glad you are back and doing well. Carolyn Banded 4-2-
Debra 0 Posted April 24, 2004 Forget blaming it on the dog ... I'm gonna blame it on DeLarla!! You crack me up, DeLarla! I had heard that hot Water bottles can help w/ gas pain? Anyone have any luck w/ that?
DeLarla 22 Posted April 29, 2004 Cracking up here... "blame it on DeLarla" was classic! I used to be such a prude, then I married a pipefitter. Nothing gets held back around here! Peace to you all from Farty Pants!
