He did mine in November, almost 9 months ago. They are awesome there. I live in Jackson but will be at the support group Monday night. Hope you are doing well!!! 9 mo appt with Tricia on Tuesday. My daughter lives in Muskegon and had it done a couple of years ago.

I am downriver. Brownstown. Had my sleeve done 3.18.13 by dr Kharbulti (wyandotte).

I am downriver as well! Was sleeved 4/29/13 at Wyandotte with Dr K as well! Hope you are doing well! I'm down 60 pounds and doin a little better each day!!

I'm downriver, my surgery is scheduled for September 4th with Dr. Bacal out of Oakwood. Anybody have him do your surgery? Wednesday cannot get here fast enough :)

Val212 I was sleeved by Dr Bacal August 2012. He is wonderful not to mention his entire staff is so accommodating. I had some complications but he kept me informed every step of the way. I actually miss the newness of being sleeved. He's going to perform a panniculectomy on me in a month to remove some excess skin. Good luck, take it all in and enjoy your new reign on life!

Good luck! It's not an easy road, the first few weeks were the roughest for me!! But it truly gets better each day, especially once you can get added Protein in! Push through the hard days after surgery! It will be worth it!

I can't say there was a "most" difficult for me! I am a horrible "patient". I don't like not being able to do my everyday tasks! Taking a shower and then trying to dry my hair felt like running a marathon. I would be exhausted and need to sit down and rest. This was not only from the surgery (anesthesia hang over I call it) but I also was not getting my Protein in! Go buy the Liquid Protein stuff you can add to Water or broth! This was a really hard time for me. Then hunger set in and cravings started up! So I was tired, hungry, craved things I could NOT have, I'm probably lucky anyone in my house survived it all! I know I was not fun to be with! Add to this that at week 3 I totally stalled out in the weight loss department. This was because I was not getting the protein and my body was going into starvation mode! But at the 4 week point you can add in soft foods (yogurt, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs) and once I could do that I slowly started feeling better and started taking off the weight again. I would say those first 3-4 weeks were the worst due to no energy, wanting real food and knowing you can't have it, being told "you must walk" yet knowing you just don't have the energy! I honestly looked at my husband and said I was stupid to have done this, apparently I'm not cut out for it all. By week 6 when you are back on normal food, clothes are getting big on you, you can walk around the block without needing a nap..... It does get better. :) hang tough! I'm now 4 months out and am learning how to have a healthier relationship with food as it was so dysfunctional before! I'm still horrible about regular exercise and am working on that. I have lost 60 pounds tho and it feels great! Also, I stalled at the 3 month mark for just over 2 weeks! So you will have them. Just work through them. Pay attention to what is going into your mouth. It's easy to slip up and realize maybe you aren't getting enough protein or maybe not enough water! It will happen easily.

Thank you. I've been concerned that I will feel the same way afterwards. I'm extremely excited about the surgery, I'm just worried about the time it will take to bounce back. Congratulations on your huge weight loss!!

Keep in mind that we all recover differently. I was grocery shopping (with help) on day 4 and back to work (desk job) on day 7. My worst days were the day of surgery and post op days 1 and 2. I felt "normal" about two weeks post op. I'm almost five mos post op and loving my sleeve!!

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
