vickie 3 Posted February 16, 2011 Why do I feel hungry. Is it head hunger, I don't know. i'm so scared of stretching my stomach and getting a leak that I am afraid to eat more Jello. Or drink more broth. Or I might drink too much. Maybe I am really hungery. And not eating enough. I just need to make out a few more days to get to yogurts and stuff for more texture and substance then liquids. Awww. No my stomach is growling is that hunger or a myth

No my stomach is growling is that hunger or a myth I'm so sorry you're struggling! I really don't know what to tell you, I honestly didn't even like the sight or smell of food for the first few weeks. I know I have seen around here that this can happen, so know you are not alone. Hopefully someone who has experienced this can chime in and lend a helping thought. It could be acid in your stomach too. I was put on Nexium immediately post op and I think this was a huge reason on why I never felt hunger. Now I'm taking Omeprazole and the hunger pretty much is rare still, and I'm 5 months out. Hope it gets better for you!
vickie 3 Posted February 16, 2011 Can you drink too much and stretch your stomach or gey a leak from drinking to much
LilMissDiva Irene 3,282 Posted February 16, 2011 What's nexium. Nexium is a Proton Pump Inhibitor medication. It helps to prevent our acid pumps in our stomachs to produce. Our stomach still makes the same amount of output after surgery and the acid can build up pretty bad. From what I understand this can cause false hunger pangs. Also, the Water - as long as you are not feeling much discomfort or pain while sipping I wouldn't say you are harming yourself. Keeping hydrated is very important post op since you are not getting any H2O from any food at this time.
vickie 3 Posted February 16, 2011 I'm not feeling any pain from sipping at all. And haven't since surgery. Thanks so much diva. You're awesome. Just don't want to damage mt surgeons work
shaundra 5 Posted February 16, 2011 hi vickie! you are not alone!!! i feel the same way. all i have thought about is food, all kinds of food. ANY kind of food! i want to eat things i never cared about before, my stomach is growling so loud you can hear it from across the room. im sure theres an explanation, but i just dont feel right. i feel spaced out and exhausted. i havent had any food for 7 days now, so tonight when i couldnt handle it one more second i grabbed a ritz cracker and nibbled it like a little mouse. lol! it helped me for a little while, but those thoughts are still running through my mind. i dont know how much longer i can do this. when do you get to move on to better stuff?
