Coffee coffee coffee

Recommended Posts

OMG you all made my day! I of course planned to ask my doctor at my first appointment this Wednesday but the presentation said something about it being bad for blood sugar levels.

Seriously- I can face my new eating lifestye happily if I can have my coffee! I drink it with a lot of milk.

OH HOORAY!

I was allowd coffee @ 5 days out, I use Truvia and non fat liquid Creamer or no sugar added french vanilla dry creamer. I'm 10 months out and have had no problem with it. Good luck on your surgery, you'll love the sleeve!!!

I have had such a hard time with the Decaf it tastes so different, I do buy and I trade off regular and decaf, because I heard about the ulcer thing too.. Either way there is nothing like a normal cup of coffee with some Fatfree FV or Hazelnut creamer....

I actually had the shakes in the hospital from caffeine withdrawal! I drank lots of iced tea every day before surgery. The doctor told me no caffeine for two weeks after surgery, but when I started shaking uncontrollably, they fixed me a cup of hot tea and it went away, so the doctor relented, and told me to just cut back to one or two cups a day. Odd thing is that since surgery I've made maybe, one pot of iced tea and that was it! It just doesn't do much for me anymore. I do have a cup of flavored coffee with a cup of milk and two sweet n low packets for Breakfast every morning with a few strips of bacon. I loves me some bacon! I'm still losing, too!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
