I start the liquid diet 2/21 then surgery is 2/28. Seems like the process in the beginning is starving and living off of your stored fat. That's good cuz I have plenty of that but I worry about my energy level. In dieting they always say to eat enough or your metabolism will shut down...how's that work with wls? Anyone have some insight on the energy levels and recovery time? Thank you

I didn't have to do liquids before, just had to do reduced calores/fat to shrink my liver. I didn't follow is exactly, and didn't track what I ate, so not sure how much I was taking in.

After surgery, some days I did feel weak and low on energy, but I hardly remember those days now. You won't have to do liquids forever, so your body won't go into starvation mode.

Good luck with surgery!!!!

I only had to do a two day liquid diet and it make me feel weak (and crazy)! After surgery, it is different because you are in recovery mode and you don't really have an appetite. It can be tough, but hang in there. The sleeve is so worth it! Plus, you are getting a head start on your weight loss. You can do it!

The first few days after surgery, I felt a little weak, but that was from the surgery, not the diet. Remember that if you're obese (like you should be if you're getting this surgery!) you have a LOT of fat reserves. You could probably live without a bite of food for over a month (although after a week or so you'd feel horrible).

After the recovery from the surgery -- about two days, for me -- I felt more energetic than ever, and it just keeps improving!

No you very likely feel weak now as you are carrying around another person essentially on your back! I found if I kept my cal intake between 800 and 1200 all was well, personally i would err towards the 1200 mark as your body is more fooled at this level.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
