mammaJ 0 Posted February 12, 2011 Tell your Dr. to give you a proscription (40ml of prilosac). Ive been taking it since my surgery in Nov 2010. Its cheaper than paying $25. over the counter for 10 pills. With the prescription its 10 copay for 30 day supply. Mamma J
SouthernSleever 228 Posted February 12, 2011 I don't know if we can but I do. I usually take 2 before bed.
Mike1981 0 Posted February 13, 2011 Ok well, I think I'm going to take a couple, thanks guys. Also, I see my surgeon for my first postop appointment Monday and I think I'm going to ask if I should take two nexium a day instead of one, maybe then I won't need tums!!! Thanks all
sleevesearch 14 Posted February 13, 2011 I've read on this board that the Calcium carbonate (in Tums) in the tummy can lead to worse acid reflux, which 'regular' use of Tums can cause. I use gaviscon instead (which is what my doc recommended) (I may not have been quoting the issue exactly, but the end result is that Tums can cause worse acid reflux after prolonged use)

sc09 95 Posted September 16, 2018 My surgeon gave me an rx for omeprazole. Cost me $3.95 for 30. Much cheaper than buying over the counter. I did buy some at Sam’s for backup Incase Im close to running out and forget to fill it.
Frustr8 7,886 Posted September 16, 2018 Tums is Calcium carbonate, sleevers and Bypassers no,longer make enough, gastric acid to utilize carbonate. That is why we are told to take calcium citrate. You cab take Toms if you like passing lozenge sized🌰 rocks through you, but they won't do YOU much good.
