Is this unusual?

Today, I came home from the doctors and fancied some raspberries, so I got a 150g pack and popped them in my mouth. They slid down VERY easily and I finished them off. For a few moments, I felt like I was back to my normal sized stomach! I know that's not the case but I think I'm expecting the magic sleeve fairy to pop out and let me know it's still little. The only confirmation I have, apart from my own logic and stitches, is the sense of fullness I get...

I'm nearly 6 weeks post op. With Protein it's another story! But I'm guessing raspberries would go down easier as they are watery so possibly slide through? It's just I felt practically no restriction on them, just well satiated. And I know I should have ate them slower but I ate them in a bit of a rush...I'm just shocked I managed to get in a whole pack of them.

I suppose you can easily make a fruit smoothie out of them and that would go down quite easily as they are very watery...

You've got it! They are going to slide down.

But, you had the "well satiated" feeling. That's really what you should be looking for. We shouldn't really eat to a "full" feeling - that usually means we've overdone it. Satiated is the goal.

(Now, just because I said that, doesn't mean I follow that all the time. ;) ) At only 6 weeks out, you are still learning your "stop" signals and how much is enough for you. And, it's going to change a lot over the next 4 months or so. Just try to rememer the feeling you had today & stop when you get to that point.

Good for you!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
