Need to vent....

Recommended Posts

Thought I would have had at least a confirmation that my paperwork was submitted to my insurance by now. Doesn't look like it is going to happen. My PCP & Clinician have yet to fax the final paperwork to my surgeon. I have even called and it seemed like I was getting the brush off. So I called the surgeons office and told them of my dilemma. I was connected to the voicemail of the pre-determination person. I left her a detailed message. I even emailed her. I will be calling them back next week for sure. I'm so not happy right now. Not sure how long I will be waiting on this. So frustrated right now I could just scream!

Just needed to vent.

I went through the same thing, I had to get real pro-active (AKA use more vacation time I am trying to build up for surgery). I called and said, I would come on 'X' date (usually 3 or 4 days notice) to the office to pick up the doctors letter/lab paperwork. The call 2 days later to remind I was coming in, to put a fire under them. Then call the day before, then call the same day the office moment the office open's. At that point if it is not ready, I just simply tell them it needs to be ready and will be in at that time. One doctor had it ready, the other I sat and waited until they the got the paperwork ready. Letting them now I had taken time off to get the letter and was not leaving without it and hinted about filing a complaint with all the documented calls to the board.

Hope this helps,

Steven

I was with one doctors office that always gave me the brush off whenever I called. I gor a letter from insurance that paperwork was incomplete and tried to get ahold of someone at the surgeons office to no avail. I was so pissed that I finally went to see a completely different doctor and am so much happier!!! I still haven't heard from the first surgeons office and that was 26 Jan!!! Sometimes you gotta find another doctor that will treat you right and not make you feel so unimportant!! I'm much happier now that I did!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
