AMLP 4 Posted February 11, 2011 Hi, I am a month out and I am still eating smaller bites then my 16 month old baby. I feel like I barely taste the food I am eating it so tiny and then chew chew chew! Will I ever be able to take bigger bites and enjoy food again? Thanks
Rootman 1,101 Posted February 11, 2011 Yes, I was the same way. Took me a half hour to down a yogurt, i dipped the spoon in sideways and just licked off what stuck to the sides. At 2+ months out I can take pretty normal size bites, however I still need to CHEW CHEW CHEW and swallow some then all the food. It's probably not a smart thing to do but the chewing and partial swallowing are second nature to me now. BEFORE surgery I would hardly chew at all and wolf down my food like a ravenous dog. Thanks you betcha! just wait til your about 6-8 or so months out. . .your going to be feeling so very normal and when your a year plus. . . well other then restriction you won't notice a thing has changed from before. I can take nice normal bites of food without a problem, however, i still chew the heck out of it and wait my 2 minutes between bites, but otherwise it's as normal as ever! Don't worry you'll get there!
