The Good and The Bad so far....

Ok yes you did the right thing! I am 2 weeks post op and down 24 lbs! I do have a Constipation problem but I just take some mylanta which is a stool softner and it helps relieve the gas. My drain was removed on day 2 before I left the hospital but the doctor said as long as the right side is hurting that is good because known of the surgery took place on that side and that it would be sore for about six weeks. I have exercised everyday and this has helped me with being tired so try these! It will be OK!

I am 5 days post op and am having great difficulty sleeping. My drain was removed in Hosp. before discharge ..but I find the pain meds are hindering / not helping .. so I use as little as possible. I too have high pain threshold (living with IBS for 20+ years) but have taken to napping frequently.

My pain in left of bellybutton .. completely localized in that incision. It is more bruised than others, so ???

My surgery took 4+ hours ... need to remember we had a lot of trauma done to ourselves.

Do not look behind you ... look ahead. Your decision was already made (and non-reversible!) so concentrate on focusing on the wonderful new steps you will be taking towards a healthy life.

Good luck - I certainly share your pain. No pain / no gain (or loss) .. right?

Im so sorry your not feeling well! I was sleeved the 1st and I still have pain on the right lower side of the stomach and its not gas for me, I think its just healing..I I try to bed over to much it hurts instantly.. or twist or anything. I have a dr visit on Thursday coming up and I cant wait to ask him about it. As far as sleep goes the only way I have been able to sleep is in my recliner and I use my pain meds at night to help me relax... I cant lay down still I just tried today and omg did it hurt. As far as a BM It probley wasnt till about a week later.. They sent me home with pain meds, stoolsoftners, gas meds . and a stomache one. The stool softeners I have to take 2 times daily..As it was put to me is that this is not some flimsy surgery so give your body the time to heal and recoup! Relax take it easy...Before to long it will be better... Best of luck with everything!

Thanks again guys, you know I think I keep forgetting my surgery took over four hours, on the day of surgery I weighed 451lbs. My body has been through alot and also is constantly going through alot thanks to my Crohn's Disease. Well, hopefully I'll feel better soon, I'll keep everyone posted. I have my first postop appointment Monday and am getting my drain out and moving on to full liquids, still no real appetite so I really don't care, which is so odd to me. Any good suggestions for what to eat on the full liquid diet? ?? Let me know guys and again thanks for everything. You guys are the best support system!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
