Hi Smoggy!

I am counting the days for my 1 month post op check up! According to my scale I have lost about 14kg in total, it slowed down a lot after the first week, but as long as the scale keeps moving downwards, I am happy!! I am back to living a normal life, although I am eating a very small amount of soft foods!

Thank you for asking, how are you doing?

Cool- and a BIG well done on your WL!!

How are your energy levels?

I'm okay- not planning on having surgery until July, but am seeing a counsellor about my food issues and triggers and bit by bit getting organised for July.

Hello all and congrats for your weight loss and steps in the right direction.

It seems that the middle east now is becoming infested with the obesity disease due to a change of lifestyle as well as the rapid infiltration of fast food.

It has been a feasting period in Egypt and I cannot stop realizing that people are eating like beasts, it is almost like a feeding frenzy every time that food is served. But then I remind myself that not long ago, I was eating as much, and frequently enough I was eating more than that.

It seems that the surgery or the pre and post op diets, change our perception of food quantities to a large degree.

Keep it up and keep in touch.

Welcome all, it is nice to meet new people in the Middle East as many people in this part like to keep the surgery secret.

I am Canadian Lebanese lives in Dubai. Had surgery around end of Feb. Losing slowly.....it is really frustrating. Started training in the gym last week and feel really good and energetic about it.

I can eat anything. Tried high Protein diet but didnt work for me and really stalled me so now I eat some healthy carbs. My favourite is whole grain with some Labneh on it.

What is your weight loss progress like???

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
