Recommended Posts

Thanks for posting this info and pics!!

I am planning to be there this time next month and I love seeing and reading about the trip!

Did they give you any kind of pre-op diet to follow, I emailed that question to Nina but have not gotten a response on that yet.(just asked her last night)

Thanks again, I hope you have an easy recovery and can't wait to hear all about it when you feel up to it!biggrin.gif

Hello pneal,

Just noticed that

Loved the blog. You made my have a good laugh that you were the scariest one because you had no make up on. I am a week and a bit behind you and not believing that this is going to happen. Keep us posted on your progress.

you're welcome...I hope it helps. I didn't have a pre op diet because my BMI is less than 40. I believe they only do pre op diet for over 40. I plan on doing lots of pics over the next few days and if I get brave, maybe a video or 2.

That would be great! I would love to see some videos! Take us on a walking tour of the hospital if they will let you!

Quick question, I will be flying into San Diego the night before, too, so that I wont have to leave home before daylight the day of pre-op. If you don't mind, how much was your room at the Hilton?

No clue. I travel alot so I just used my Hilton points. Someone suggested the Hampton Inn but I'm just not a big fan of the Hampton. My room at the Hilton was beautiful.

I have a few pics of the room and view. Just don't know how to imbed into this post.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
