I've had unopened potato chips for a week!

Recommended Posts

I realized something this morning, I've had my favorite kind of potato chips sitting on the shelf, unopened, for a week now.

To most people this is a stupid realization, but to think I've had one of my favorite foods in the house getting ignored is a huge success for me. I feel like I have shed my food-addicted skin and am a completely different person.

Also - I'm 2 months post-op to the day and down 50lbs! Go sleeve!

Thats great!! I don't really have a favorite food right now..If I would say favorite it would be a big ol steak and bake potato.. I know that really don't sound like a guilty pleasure, but there is nothing better...lol

But seriously be really proud of your accomplishments... good luck

Congratulations!! It's the best, isn't it? I have about 5 bags of unopened chocolate chips (didn't use them for Cookies at Christmas) sitting on my shelf and they're just sitting there!! Not calling to me, not doing anything. Isn't that the best feeling??

I LOVE THIS SLEEVE!!

I've had OPENED Doritos in my cupboard for 2 weeks and haven't touched ONE! And let me tell you, they used to be my trigger food...I could demolish an entire bag by myself. I have no interest in them whatsoever. Never mind I can't eat them right now (still in soft foods) but they just are repulsive to me right now.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
