I go once a week (i know tmi sorry) which is so not comfortable for me. Before surgery I would go after every meal and then some. It was not uncomfortable it was almost a releif. I know that sounds totally bazzaar but when you are so used to going to not going at all i am misrable. Can someone help me???? I have a Drs appt today but I am going on 4 days with no movement and i know the scale is really gonna show it.

Go get Miralax or generic equivalent, it's the best stuff out there. I take 1/2 cap a day and am real regular now.

If you are still backed up after that get to the doctors, you may need something stronger. You can get a bowel obstruction and have real bad results.

Hi there Carmy, I'm Angela joining you from the UK.

You have my every sympathy love. I am 10 days post op and had so much pain from constipation that I could have cried. It was worse than having the surgery.

I spoke to my GP yesterday and he prescribed a micro enema called Micralax, so easy to use and works in 15 minutes. WHAT A RELIEF !!!!!!!!!

I'm sure there must be the same or similar available to you in the US, you can but them from the pharmacy over here without a prescription. Maybe Wallgreens would have them.

I'm also now taking Lactulose twice daily which should help.

Hope this helps

Best wishes Angela x

I had some REAL issues woth it too. I got so backed up I had to use enemmas to get things moving and I use Miralax to keep things moving. I was eating collace like candy to no avail. I too was use to going after eating (ibs) so I kmow what you mean about being extra uncomfortable!

Miralax is what has helped me. I also have used Milk of Magnesia, but I'd say the Miralax is more effective (and less crampy!). Hope that helps!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
