It definitely gets better. The first week is the worst. The second is better but still tough. My Dr said to be sure to walk every hour for five minutes as it helps with healing. 1 RockDaisy reacted to this
RockDaisy 52 Posted April 3, 2017 I am about 5 days post op and still in a lot of pain. Right now I am wishing I didnt do this [emoji20] I hope it gets easier. It will.Hang in there, take your meds as prescribed, rest as much as you can and just focus on healing. The 1st week was the hardest for me also...I battled severe nausea and thought it would never end.Do you have someone you can call or text for advice who has been through this?If not feel free to call or text me Stephanie (832) 332-6584. 1 courtneyd reacted to this

lorenpuig 6 Posted April 9, 2017 I'm in Tyler I have a question surgery is scheduled for April 21st, I'm in nursing school with 2 weeks left after scheduled surgery, should I wait until after the semester ends? Just not sure how much pain I'll be in, and if I'll be able to go to class
mylighthouse 782 Posted April 9, 2017 @lorenpuig You should wait until after you finish school to have the surgery. It is a major surgery. You might be in quite a bit of pain for several days after the surgery (I was and had to take pain meds). Some people don't have much pain, but I think most people take off work a week or two or three if possible. I just can't see returning to class even a week after surgery. That's my opinion. lorenpuig 6 Posted April 9, 2017 Thank you, I would have to actually return that Monday after having surgery Friday... where did you have surgery? And my doc said I just have to fast 8 hours prior to surgery that doesn't seem right
mylighthouse 782 Posted April 9, 2017 @lorenpuig Yes, I don't think just a weekend will give you enough time to feel better before you have to head back to school. I am in Bryan/College Station and had my surgery in Bryan back in November. Different doctors will tell you different things. I did a 2 week pre-op diet where I was allowed to have small, low carb and non-starchy veggies along with chicken or fish for Protein and Protein Shakes. Then the day before surgery, I was on an all clear liquid diet and couldn't have anything to eat or drink after midnight, the night before surgery. My surgery was at 11:00 the next morning. You will read that some people have to do a 2 week all liquid pre-op diet. Every doctor is different.
