Well, ups and downs again!

Week 5, and I am having my second stall/gain! I'm back down to having lost 23lb, but still can't work out why this is happening, I had good weight loss for 2 weeks post op, gained 1lb week three, was ill and due to illness lost 7lb (although until I got a vomiting bug I was stalling at 18lb lost), after getting well again I stayed the same for a few days, but have now gained 2lb.

I'm somewhere between mush and food, and have largely been eating chicken breast, omlette or Soups the weight of what I'm eating is less than 2lb, so I just don't get why my body is doing this! :(

Please tell me this isn't just me, and I'm not shaping up to be the first person to fail on the sleeve!

Thanks

The body retains Water for all kinds of reasons. No doubt you are not gaining fat. Just hang in there... Its going to be a bumpy ride! My body is doing the same ind of thing.

Water weight is a total bitch. You are not gaining 2lbs of fat overnight. It's not possible, just like it's not possible to lose 2lbs of fat overnight. You're going to have bounce around, you're going to have stalls, but just continue to follow your post-op guidelines, push fluids, and Protein, and the weight will come off.

Check the sodium content of the Soup, or anything you might be adding to your food. I'm not saying cut all sodium because that can cause other issues, but salt can cause Water retention.

You are not going to fail. Breathe in with the good, out with the bad, and stay positive ! ! !

Yes, sodium is a bitch. When I was dieting prior to surgery , anytime I stalled, sodium was always the culprit ! I daily intake should not exceed 2380.

I am noticing patterns in my weight. It goes something like this

weigh morning 241.6

weigh mid morning 240.9

weight night 244.4

Weigh morning 242.2

weigh night 243.6

weigh morning 240.4

weight night 244.2

weigh morning 241.0

weigh night 242.6

weigh morning 239.4

weigh night 241.9

weigh morning 240.6

and on and on and on...

I am losing only one pound a week some weeks, others (like this week) I lose up to 4 pounds. Even though my weight fluctuates greatly daily, and even throughout the day, there is a weekly pattern of losing. My lowest weights occur about 2 hours after I get up. I like knowing what my body is doing, so I weigh a lot. Sometimes I just get on the scale and stare at it, because it has been soooooo long since I have seen it this low. I pay attention to the lows, not the highs. My goal each time is to get lower than my last lowest, which happens about every 3 to 4 days, sometimes by only a fraction of a pound. It works for me. Point is, for me anyway, weight fluctuates tremendously. BTW, the day before my TOM, I gained four pounds.

Im right there with you friend. I went on Birth control and gain 4 pounds in a couple days and then stalled for a month. Last week I finally lost 2 pound of that and then today up a pound.

UGGHHHH<, but is impossible to gain weight on 600 calories a day I keep telling myself.

...and I thought it was just my scale.

Yes, sodium is a bitch.

It's funny you guys can say curse words. I posted one in a thread a while ago and one of the board natzi's gave me an official warning because "this is a family board." lol apparently we are adult enough to make a surgery decision but not adult enough to read a couple of letters on a screen.

LOL It'd be different if we were dropping the "F" bomb, or using vulgar slang terms for genitals(which I have wanted to use occasionally).

My advice for the people that don't want to see my posts, or are easily offended; there is a block button for a reason, I highly suggest they use it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
