:help: Hi All,

I was banded on May 24th and have lost 13lbs. I have not have a fill yet but think that I need one since I can eat almost everything. I have not gotten sick and am a little worried that I can eat what ever I want.

Has this happened to any of you? I have a doctors appt on July 7th and I will make sure to inform my doc about this. Is this normal ? I want to loose weight not gain. Any replies are appreciated. Thanks

I am able to eat as little or as much as I want. But when I eat fast or

dry food like pork I get that golf ball effect feeling.

Hi U Perk Ma

I was banded 5/19. Everyone is different but most folks don't have real restriction until their band is being adjusted. Although you do hear of folks doing well without fills but most folks have to start having their band filled to have real restriction. I too can eat anything I wamt right now. So until I reach my "sweet spot" for restriction I have to be careful in my food choices. Not to say you don't have to be careful after reaching optimimal fill. Good luck. Go over the the Lapband support forum and introduce yourself on the May 2006 Band Crew June Chat thread. This is a thread for folks banded in May 2006 so we are all going through similar things right now.

M

I was banded June 6th and I'm down 11 lbs. I did have more restriction but I think a lot of this is in my head. I slowed down today and only consumed a little food this a.m. So now I am trying to listen to my body to see if this is hunger, habit, over eating, etc. I think having a fill really helps as well. Mine is scheduled for July 17th Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
