M2G 1,836 Posted February 8, 2011 That sounds very extreme to me. I don't even think RNY's are on liquids that long. I would ask for clarification in WRITING. My doc gave me a huge 3-ring binder with TONS of info regarding pre-and post-op diet, and it was extremely detailed. Not eating food until 5 months out...that sounds pretty far off the "norm" from what I know personally and what I've seen around here.
Susanne 32 Posted February 8, 2011 I believe the keyword here is "up to 12 weeks" - it doesn't say anywhere that everyone has to do that for 12 weeks
sarahh1828 4 Posted February 8, 2011 Sounds like SOMEBODY hit the ole crack pipe right before the meeting! :hat: Is this dude going to be doing your surgery? If so, you might want to either have a one on one with him ASAP or talk to another doctor within Kaiser about a REAL postop diet. I posted a copy of my postop diet on my blog if you want to check it out. Best wishes. lol. THere are two other surgeons, so I'm going to request one of the others. This guys specialty is RNY anyways, I'm sure with his obvious distaste for sleeves at the meeting that he wouldn't perform a sleeve. I'm just hoping one of the other two surgeons come in quick to save the classes sanity.
