Diet Post op questions

Recommended Posts

That sounds very extreme to me. I don't even think RNY's are on liquids that long. I would ask for clarification in WRITING. My doc gave me a huge 3-ring binder with TONS of info regarding pre-and post-op diet, and it was extremely detailed.

Not eating food until 5 months out...that sounds pretty far off the "norm" from what I know personally and what I've seen around here.

I believe the keyword here is "up to 12 weeks" - it doesn't say anywhere that everyone has to do that for 12 weeks

Sounds like SOMEBODY hit the ole crack pipe right before the meeting! :hat: Is this dude going to be doing your surgery? If so, you might want to either have a one on one with him ASAP or talk to another doctor within Kaiser about a REAL postop diet.

I posted a copy of my postop diet on my blog if you want to check it out.

Best wishes.

lol. THere are two other surgeons, so I'm going to request one of the others. This guys specialty is RNY anyways, I'm sure with his obvious distaste for sleeves at the meeting that he wouldn't perform a sleeve. I'm just hoping one of the other two surgeons come in quick to save the classes sanity.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
