Hi Michelle,

I am using Dr. Bertha from Advance Laparoscopic Surgeons in Florham Park, NJ. He came very highly recommended. Unfortunately he hasnt done a whole lot of Sleeves but he is one of the top rated weight loss surgeons in North Jersey. Good luck!

Hershey Medical does the sleeve. There are 3 doctors that perform their surgeries.

I just had mine done at Hershey Medical by Dr. Ann Rogers. I am only 3 days out, but so far, so good. I actually had a very nice stay at the hospital, well as nice as a stay can be after surgery, it was much nicer than my local hospital.

I have been researching The Valley Hospital's Center for Metabolic and Weight Loss Surgery in Bergen county NJ.. it may be a little far from PA ... the Doctors associated with NY Presbyterian Hospital.. The docs names are...Melissa Bagloo, M.D.; Miguel Silva, M.D.; Beth Schrope, M.D., Ph.D.; and Marc Bessler, M.D. .. I have visited with Melissa Bagloo, M.D. iat the NJ office and found her to be pleasant to talk to and very informative .., she didnt rush me out of her office and was a true pleasure.. So far im sticking with her ./ she also part of my *** aetna plan.. hope this helps .. MT

Dr. Ed Yatco at Manhattan Minimally Invasive Barriatric Surgery was great and does lots of sleeves, I had my surgery at Lennox Hill in Manhattan and have no complaints.

I have a large piece of mesh in my upper abdomen from a prior surgery and he had to work around this and could not insert the instruments where he normall would. Also, he had to cut through lots of adhesions from the prior surgery.

No complications, back at work in 3 weeks, slow steady weight loss and I am off all meds for diabetes, blood pressure and arthritis. I could not have asked for better care or a better result.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
