Almost Passed Out!!

Recommended Posts

Ok, so not been well all week, but on the mend, and this morning one of my kids opened some chocolates but left one, and I thought ah what the hell?

So I ate one chocolate and sat down with my Protein drink for Breakfast, but within 10 minutes I am horribly faint and nauseous and having a hot sweat, thought I was actually going to pass out if I moved at all. An hour on I was back to normal, but it took a while to settle down.

So I pondered the possible causes, and figure I am either reacting badly to the little bit of chocolate I have had, or to the fact I am generally not eating a great ammount.

On an average day I manage 1/2 tin of Soup at lunch, and either a small omlette, 3/4 of a chicken breast, or another Soup for tea, and a couple of low fat mini baby bell as Snacks during the day.

I'm also really struggling to get more than about 2 pints of Fluid in during the day and I am sipping constantly.

Thoughts much appreciated.

Thanks

I found sugar to be hard to tolerate the first few months after the surgery. If I tried to eat an entire candybar now, I'd probably get the same symptoms, although at this point I can have 2-3 pieces of chocolate.< /p>

Yes I definitely was getting this same reaction first out when I'd even have a bite of candy or something really sweet. I have to admit - it's keeping me away from the stuff for the most part. I do have sweets once in awhile but it sure isn't much and when I do its few and far between.

I also get nauseated off of chips and popcorn - it just makes me feel so yucky and sick. I'm also severely lactose intolerant, so along with my sugar issues, it's keeping me away from ice cream.

YAY I LOOOOVE MY SLEEVE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Irene,

If my sleeve gave me that type of reaction with sweets, chips and ice cream, I would consider the whole surgery a success!! I should only be so lucky!

Hey Lucille, I hope so! I actually know I'm super rare with this, so I can't say. In fact I really don't even know of anyone else this has happened to. It's a fact though, ALL junk food makes me nauseated or dumping. No wonder I'm losing as fast as I am. LOL!!! Lap band and sleeve - for me is like day and night. ;-)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
