When can I be a junglegym?

Recommended Posts

I've seen a lot of questions about returning to work but I would like some input on kids. I have 3 year old twin boys who love to use me as their personal junglegym. I should be having surgery at end of March and my parents will be coming to town to help with the kids. Just curious what ya'lls experiences were as far as dealing with small kids after surgery?

I don't have kids, but I do have a small dog with pointy little feet that doesn't know the meaning of the word "NO" I use a pillow on my stomach whenever there is a chance shes going to jump up. This might be a good time to try some games or something to avoid rough housing for a few weeks.... maybe rewards or... just shooting in the dark here....

I have a 1 yr old and a 4 yr old and I am over 5 weeks out right now. My doctor is a stickler and doesn't want me lifting more than 20 lbs for the first 6 weeks. My 4 yr old knows i had belly surgery and so she doesn't climb on me, but when my 1 yr old wants to play I just sit on the floor with her and then she climbs on me. For the first few weeks I used a pillow over my belly just in case she pushes where she isn't suppose to and that worked out really good.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
