Hi, I have these little red bumps (rash) that is surrounding my two biggest incisions and the rash is spreading out. It was just one incision last night, now the opposite incision has developed the same rash.

I am waiting for my Dr to call my back for another problem I am having, but until then I wondered if anyone knows anything about this rash!

Thanks!

My incisions are getting really itchy (well three of them anyway) They are dark red around the incision, but I don't think they are infected, I think that the staples are just bugging me. I am having them out in two days... Can't wait! I don't know about the rash, Can you call an advice nurse? Did you look it up on the internet?

Did your doctor staple, suture them or use glue? My surgeon used dermabond, a sort of glue. If yours used glue you could be allergic to it. If not, I dont have any ideas. A benadryl should help, no matter what it is you are allergic to.

Mine got REALLY itchy and I ended up in the doc's office bc one was super red and the others not but my entire stomach itched like CRAZY!!!! He said it was a) lack of oils in my skin bc of the diet change and B) the glue he used in lieu of stitches.

Hope you feel better ASAP!

I had itchiness and a rash around my incisions and it was due to an allergic reaction to the adhesive in the surgical tape and/or steri-strips. You should ask your dr. and see what he/she thinks. Good luck (I know what a drag it is)!

You could have a skin infection around the incesions. It's wise to call the doctor and see about getting in asap to have it looked at. The reason this comes to mind is because after I had my hysterectomy I developed a small rash that within a day spread out. I was prescribed antibiotics and within a few days the rash started clearing up. Best of Luck to You!!

By day 4 I bought those larger band aids and it gave me a huge allergic reaction. I stopped using them, took medication for alergie but I still have the outine of the bandaids in my skin completely swollen and red and it itches a lot. I am now using a allergy cream to help with it.

I was super itchy and red around the incisions, drove me crazy, it turned out it was an allergic reaction to the derma bond glue. I used lots of benadryl gel on it, got off as much glue as I could and it eventually got better.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
