AMLP 4 Posted February 2, 2011 Hi, I have these little red bumps (rash) that is surrounding my two biggest incisions and the rash is spreading out. It was just one incision last night, now the opposite incision has developed the same rash. I am waiting for my Dr to call my back for another problem I am having, but until then I wondered if anyone knows anything about this rash! Thanks!
feedyoureye 3,087 Posted February 2, 2011 Hi, I have these little red bumps (rash) that is surrounding my two biggest incisions and the rash is spreading out. It was just one incision last night, now the opposite incision has developed the same rash. I am waiting for my Dr to call my back for another problem I am having, but until then I wondered if anyone knows anything about this rash! Thanks! My incisions are getting really itchy (well three of them anyway) They are dark red around the incision, but I don't think they are infected, I think that the staples are just bugging me. I am having them out in two days... Can't wait! I don't know about the rash, Can you call an advice nurse? Did you look it up on the internet?
leeblewb 9 Posted February 2, 2011 Did your doctor staple, suture them or use glue? My surgeon used dermabond, a sort of glue. If yours used glue you could be allergic to it. If not, I dont have any ideas. A benadryl should help, no matter what it is you are allergic to.
ThatDudesMom 13 Posted February 2, 2011 I was told that itchy means healing, red is okay, but not bright red, and don't know about a rash. Hope you doctor's office calls back soon.
SFOTraveler 42 Posted February 3, 2011 Mine got REALLY itchy and I ended up in the doc's office bc one was super red and the others not but my entire stomach itched like CRAZY!!!! He said it was a) lack of oils in my skin bc of the diet change and the glue he used in lieu of stitches. Hope you feel better ASAP!
Deedle Dee 0 Posted February 5, 2011 I had itchiness and a rash around my incisions and it was due to an allergic reaction to the adhesive in the surgical tape and/or steri-strips. You should ask your dr. and see what he/she thinks. Good luck (I know what a drag it is)!
shaundra 5 Posted February 18, 2011 omg!!!! im going crazy! i have a terrible red rash all over my stomach and it itches so bad i want to rip my skin off!!!!! its either the stitches or the tape over my bandages. what did the dr tell you guys to do about yours? i dont get my stitches out for 4 more days
MommyTawnie 3 Posted February 18, 2011 You could have a skin infection around the incesions. It's wise to call the doctor and see about getting in asap to have it looked at. The reason this comes to mind is because after I had my hysterectomy I developed a small rash that within a day spread out. I was prescribed antibiotics and within a few days the rash started clearing up. Best of Luck to You!!
brazcan 37 Posted February 18, 2011 By day 4 I bought those larger band aids and it gave me a huge allergic reaction. I stopped using them, took medication for alergie but I still have the outine of the bandaids in my skin completely swollen and red and it itches a lot. I am now using a allergy cream to help with it.
afdonn 1 Posted February 19, 2011 I was super itchy and red around the incisions, drove me crazy, it turned out it was an allergic reaction to the derma bond glue. I used lots of benadryl gel on it, got off as much glue as I could and it eventually got better.
