hope@50plus 0 Posted February 2, 2011 I had my surgery on Dec. 6th. I was not sure I would be able to eat my favorite food again, steak. The other night we went to Texas Roadhouse. I ordered the 6 ounce filet medium rare. I ate half of the steak along with a few bites of salad and bake potato. I had no problem AND the most important part was that I ENJOYED IT!!! I stopped eating when I was starting to feel full. I think I am getting the hang of this new life.
MINI-Me 196 Posted February 2, 2011 Good for you! I had no problems with steak either. Just be sure to chew, chew, chew.
pumpkin07 32 Posted February 2, 2011 Wow, does this meet your plan? I couldn't eat steak so soon. I just wondered. I was like liquids, mushies, etc. It seemed to take forever. Be careful.
Tiffykins 673 Posted February 2, 2011 Steak is by far my favorite meat, and it actually works better than any other dense Protein. Glad you enjoyed your steak, and it makes it even better that you enjoyed it ! ! !
chilo1 62 Posted February 2, 2011 Great to hear! I too love steak, and the other day I met a girl who had the sleeve the same day as me and she said that she was practically a vegetarian now, I'm so glad I'm not in her position!
ohmmm 0 Posted February 2, 2011 That is so awesome I can almost taste it. I told my husband just yesterday that in a couple of months I want to try steak, Friday's has a really good one and I think it is 6oz too. I told him I want us to do it take out first because I am scared of eating it in the restaurant in case i get sick. So, I think it looks like I shouldn't have anything to worry about from the sounds of everyone here as long as I eat slow and chew well! I am excited. I had my surgery on Dec. 6th. I was not sure I would be able to eat my favorite food again, steak. The other night we went to Texas Roadhouse. I ordered the 6 ounce filet medium rare. hope@50plus 0 Posted February 2, 2011 I have been able to eat regular food since my 1 month post op appointment-Jan 6th. The doctors and the nutritionist (military base-Tricare) just told me to take it easy. They said that the key is very small bites, eat slowly, and chew, chew, chew! Actually the medium rare steak was so tender it went down very easy. chicken is harder for me. My husband makes it in the crock pot (breasts) and it takes a lot of chewing! I told my husband to buy and throw in a thigh with his chicken breasts-he likes white meat. I think the dark meat may be less dry and easier to chew. Anyway, since I know I can eat my favorite "regular" foods in smaller amounts, I have NO REGRETS. I am definitely a HAPPY CAMPER!!!
