AMLP 4 Posted February 1, 2011 Hi, I am 3 weeks post op and am having a gnawing almost burning pain in my left abdominal region. Its been two days and the pain is about a 5-6 on a scale of one to ten being the highest. The pain is worse when I move so walking really increases it. Does anyone know what this could be? I really don't know much about where my organs are inside my abdomen so I am clueless to what this pain could be. Thanks!
seniorsleever 17 Posted February 1, 2011 As an RN, I would call this a definite red flag. Call your doctor ASAP. It might be nothing-- but it might indicate a leak in your sleeve, or pancreatitis even. Nothing to mess around with.
kgremmy 36 Posted February 1, 2011 I agree that you need to call. I had similar pain on my left side and I called. Luckly it was only because I was healing and moving around more and doing more. My dr told me to take it easy and keep pushing the fluids. Keep us posted on how you are doing.
sassyatty 0 Posted February 2, 2011 I have the exact same thing. I called my doctor and they said if it is a burning sensation then it is the nerves that are coming back to life after the swelling has gone down. Mine is in the exact same place...just left of my belly button. Not a constant pain but when I sit a certain way or bend over...it really hurts. And don't even talk about sneezing...I almost started crying when I did! I think it is just our body healing and I can't really take it easy as I have a 14 month old to chase around all day. I think it will get better with time but I have read other posts on this board about this and some people have said it took up to 8 weeks to go away. Ouch!
