Denika 2 Posted June 20, 2006 Hello everybody, I posted this to the main forum too, but since I only know and trust you all, I'm going to ask you too! I need some help and advice. So far, I've lost around 65 pounds since I was banded last July 26th. But, the problem is, I have only lost 4 pounds since the first of March.:think I haven't had a fill since December, so I have one scheduled for in the morning at 8:30. The problem is though, I am terrified of being too tight. Right now, I still get a "stuck" feeling when I first start eating. But, after that passes I can eat quite a bit more than I could right after my last fill. I think maybe the stuck feeling is coming from the fact that maybe I still don't take small enough bites and chew enough, but I'm not sure. So, I guess my question is, do you all think I should get a fill? Ugh! I wish I knew what to do! Plus, I'm afraid Dr. Bauman will fuss at me for not losing more than I have. He never has before, but I'm paranoid. Thank you for all of your help, and I apologize if this is a stupid question.
Jachut 487 Posted June 20, 2006 Its a hard decision, I'm in a similar situation. I think just really take your time to think about it. I'm scared of being tight at all let alone too tight but the real fact is I"m failing to control my appetite at the moment. Even so I keep thinking I just need to work harder but I've been out for dinner three times this week and I find I can eat an entire restaurant serve of risotto - I think its time for a fill. I figure, if I can eat that much in a sitting, then chances are I can have a substantial fill and still wont be tight and start PBing and having trouble. Plus I paid for it, its there, its kind of stupid not to use it. But I am not a fillaholic, I'm very very cautious about them. I really only know the band's there due to the odd sticking, it certainly doesnt limit me in terms of amount very much at the moment. If you feel at all like that, then perhaps think about a fill, but you dont have to have it until you're ready, there's no harm in not losing for a while and just catching your breath a bit. gordonfamily3 0 Posted June 20, 2006 Hey Denika - I am sorry I didn't see this sooner. I guess you are at the dr's right now. From the sounds of it, it wouldn't hurt for a small fill. I am actually a little tight right now but I have already asked to be unfilled kinda easy for me since I work for the doc. Melissa also gets stuck in the morning - I think she drinks a hot liquid before she eat Breakfast and lunch to help her out. For me yes I still after a year haven't learned to chew and eat smaller bites. It's getting better but old habits die hard. Let us know how it goes and what you are filled to. Dragonwillow 0 Posted June 20, 2006 Yeah, I drink hot liquids before eating anthing with a thicker consistancy thn yogurt. Usually at Breakfast and lunch. Sometimes I have to do this in the evening too, especially if my hands are feet or swollen (guess that means everything else is retaining Water too?) Anyway, I told my nutritionist about it today, and as long as I'm not eatting too much she thinks it's okay. Ideally they want you to wait 30 minutes after drinking to eat. She doesn't think I"m too tight, since I can eat solids if I eat slowly enough and chew chew chew.
Denika 2 Posted June 20, 2006 Melissa! You were there today? What time? I was too, and yesterday. (to see Diane) I did get a little fill, but not much at all. The weird thing is, I was supposed to have something like 2.25 cc's in there, and he could only pull out 1.8. So, he put .25 in, and I couldn't get Water to go down. So, he took out some, and I still couldn't drink. I think after the third try, it worked. So, I got like a whopping .22 cc's or something crazy like that. Hopefully that teeny little bit will help.
