I am having a difficult time staying motivated lately. I think that I am in one of my many funks, but along with it comes my bad coping mechanisms, I snack and am not drinking Water. I have a hard time getting it down. Also, stop going to the gym. I have constant anxiety attacks. I have been trying to increase my Protein but when I drink the shakes, it makes me very ill. I had my surgery on the 4th of October and am currently at a stale @ 183 for the last two weeks. I know to many who will read this, your first response would be to get over it and just do what I have to. That is a lot easier said than done. What I am looking for is a mentor, perhaps someone who has had a similar experience, help to encourage me. My email is mxthompson12@yahoo.com. Thanks again.

If you are looking for a buddy, I too am looking for an "accountbilty" partner. I have not had surgery yet, but in line wating.

Regardless, good for you for positng and reaching out.

Acceptance, I find, is the answer to all my frustrations. So, acceptance that you're in a funk, acceptance that this too shall pass, and acceptance that there are solutions to your challenges will all help you to be the best you can be, just for today.

Have a super day.

Cindy

I'm really sorry both of you are having such a hard time of it. . . i too tend to slide and fall while i wander my path. . . but here are some words of wisedom from Robert F. Bennett which i find comforting. . . hope it helps a bit. . .

" A desire to be in charge of our own lives, a need for control, is born in each of us. It is essential to our mental health, and our success, that we take control"

Good luck and all the best while you walk your path. . . :)

Are you someplace cold? I COMPLETELY get what you're saying. I'm in Michigan and I really, truly believe the weather is getting the best of me. I've been in maintenance for four months--well, closer to five now actually, except for a little dip down into the 160's a couple weeks ago--and I just can not get my head back in the right place and stay there. All I want to do is sit in the computer room next to the space heater, or stay under a blanket. It's all I can do to make myself get up and do the dishes, let alone change into little clothes and go to the cold basement to get on the treadmill!! LOL...

It's frustrating being so close to goal. The good news is that I have absolutely NO doubt that I'll get there and beyond. I know the weather's not a good excuse, but I really do think the cold and gray and yuck make it SO hard to get motivated!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
