I had green pee for the longest time after surgery....almost a week. The surgeon said it was indeed the blue dye that is used.

*perk....Grape crystal light??? share share share...we get lemonaid, tea and fruit punch here...I would love to try some grape.

Green poop...yeah...suck side effect, but look at it this way, it's like a cheap colonic without the back pressure and embarassing position and process.

I say grape crystal light, but I buy my groceries at Walmart and I often get the "cheaper verson" of the crystal light. So maybe there is no grape crystal light, but it is the good values version. But there is no difference in the two brands in my opinion.

They use blue dye during surgery to look for leaks. And the diarrhea is probably from not eating solid food

This seems like a good explanation. Since this is an older post, how has this turned out for you? Mine went away after a week....the green pee that is. Harder to shake some of other green stuff.

Here I thought I was the only one with this problem. (Well except perhaps my 2 year old son)

Mine is normal consistency but a lovely Shamrock Green. I finally figured out mine was due to the cheap store brand sugar free chocolate pudding I buy sometimes. Doesn't happen with the Jello Brand just the store brand. Will last for days after I eat it.

What am I doing with chocolate pudding? I like to mix my Protein powder with the sugar free pudding mix for a tasty Protein mix. Then stir in some chunky Peanut Butter and freeze it until consistency of soft serve ice cream. YUMMY! Will also substitute much of the milk in the recipe with Cottage cheese that I have run through a blender until it's the consistency of sour cream (to boost the overall protein and lower the carbs). Sounds odd but tastes nice and creamy once mixed with the pudding. Makes it taste like I used whole milk.

OK this probably wasn't the best board to be discussing food on.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
