I am looking for a low carb Protein Bar recipe. I may just have to experiment if I can't find one that sounds good. I have found a lot of recipes, but most are super high calorie, or high carb or both. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm hooked on the South Beach Living Crispy Meal Bars. They are all good but I especially like the chocolate Peanut Butter. They are packed full of nutrients, 12 grams of Protein, have 180 calories, 5 grams of sugars and 25 grams carbs. I know the carb count could be better but I have not had a problem losing weight eating this bar everyday for Breakfast.< /p>

the pre-op diet my doctor gave me said be sure and count only net carbs. I don't really know how to do that but the adkins tells you net carbs. It may show 25 carbs on the back but the front says only 2 net carbs. so you may want to google net carbs and find out how to figure that. Hope that helps.

I really like Pure Protein Bars. They have 20g of protein.... 180 calories.... 4.5g fat.....2g sugar.... 17g carbs

They are very filling and make a good snack.< /p>

Also... you can buy them at costco and Sam's Club.

Goodluck!

I make my own Protein bars/smacks.

chocolate Peanut Butter

4 Squares unsweetened bakers chocolate

2 cups Adam's natural Peanut Butter

8 scoops Body Fortress choc/ peanutbutter Protein powder

splenda to taste I use less than 1/3 c.

melt chocolate in micro add peanut butter to soften 1 more min.

mix with Protein Powder.

I use mini muffin tins and fill to top.

refrigrateto set

Serving size 1

165 calories

2.75 net carbs

10gr Protein

I keep these in the fridge because of the Peanut Butter.

These might be high in fat but here's another one I make with

Cream cheese .

exchange the Peanut butter with 2- 8 oz packages of cream cheese

everything eles is the same.

I use a 5x7 baking pan, cut into 24 squares

Calories 157

Protein 10gr

Carbs 2gr

these are chewy.

Thanks a bunch for the ideas!

Im pretty sure the net carbs are after you subtract the Fiber and any sugar alcohol carbs.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
