4 weeks Post op and EVERYTHING I try makes me sick!

Recommended Posts

Ok so 4 weeks out and 18lb down (still in the 3 week stall :( ), I am soooo tired of liquids. I'm ok with scrambled egg, and Soups even some with a few small noodles in, but I've tried to vary this and keep being sick.

I'm tired of the couple of things I can eat, and need more inspiration, but I'm also worried that at this rate I will NEVER get on solids without hurting myself.

I've slowed my eating down, I'm only going for small ammounts of soft stuff, what else can I do?

I actually doubted my sleeve for the first time yesterday.

Thanks in advance.

I started with pureed meats with gravy, actually Gerbers baby food in a 2.5 oz jar. Went down pretty easy and actually tastes pretty good, the chicken is best with beef a second.

Good luck, it DOES get better.

I stuck to mushies/soft foods until I was close to 3=4 months. Yes, it was boring, and eating was a chore, but I figured, I'd rather be bored with food than eat something that didn't settle well, or made me sick.

At 4 weeks out, I was barely moving into mushies. Your stomach is still super swollen, and trying to adjust to food. I know you probably do not want to hear it, but time is really the only thing you can give yourself, and your sleeve.

I did add a lot of seasoning to my food, and really got creative with recipes that gave the best flavors so eating wasn't as boring.

Can you eat cottage cheese, yogurt, refried Beans, thin sliced deli meat with flavored cream cheese, laughing cow wedges?

It does get better, but it all takes time.

I agree w/Tiff, but then again I always agree with her.;)

I had a hard time when I was moving from liquids to mush to solids. Everything tasted wrong, and would upset my stomach. I lost 35 pounds in the first month because I got tired of trying to eat something that didn't effect me poorly. I also had doubts about the sleeve working, but they passed once I could actually handle some tuna, and from there other more solid foods. My first 10 weeks were a roller coaster of emotions, food problems, a 3 week stall where I thought I was not going to lose another ounce. All I can tell you is that the further out you get from the surgery, the better you will feel about having it done. Your body will heal itself, and you will get to a place where the sleeve feels like the best thing going. I still have stalls, it's just the way my body works, but during those stalls I make sure to try on clothes that I know did not fit me, because I still lose in size even when I am not losing on the scale. I hate to say it, but TIME is what will make things better.

Keep your chin up and try to take comfort in that 18lbs that are gone. Think about how long that would have taken you before the sleeve, and if it would have stayed away or come back to visit you over and over.

Thanks so much ladies, its good to know its not just me.

I'm sure that time is a wonderful thing and ultimately this too shall pass!

Although I've had my first moment of "What have I done?" mostly I've already stopped thinking about my sleeve other than at meal times, and in truth even thats passable during the day when I'm at work, however that damn head hunger and junk cravings kick in as soon as I'm in my own environment.

Jane I agree with the clothing thing when the scales fail, I sifted my whole wardrobe Tuesday, and ditched everything with room in it. One of my resolutions is to stop hiding in baggy clothes, and I really have no chioice now as they have gone to charity!

Thanks for the pick me up.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
