Questions about diet.

Recommended Posts

Okay, I was banded June 5 and rebanded june 8. I was on liquid diet religiously for week 1. Then I have been eating stuff like cream of potatoe Soup. tuna and crackers, nachos with cheese, and today french fries. Nothing hurts and I seem to be unresricted. I don't want to hurt my self or over do it but I am so hungry and I am testing things. Give me any thoughts. I chew everything to liquid form before swallowing.

i was the same way. i did liquid for 2-3 days as directed by my doctor. moved onto pureed for about 3 days. Then onto mushies for about 3 days and then started on solid food that i chew to death. When I initially started the solid foods I drank at the same time so it was like I was eating Soup. Now I just eat it and chew very thoroughly without drinking. I emailed my doctor yesterday to tell him what point that I had gotten to and that I was feeling fine. I've never pb???is that what it's called or vomited or been nauseated. He said it was fine if I felt good. However, I think it is important to follow your doctors recomendation. I didn't want to keep doing it without him knowing it at least. FYI I was banded May 31, 2006. I'm going to say be careful about the calorie content in the french fries, but I'm sure you already know that. It's hard when you're out and hungry. I also had french fries one day.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
