and the waiting is the hardest part.....

I havecompleted my 3 month multidisciplinary for Aetna,my psych, gall bladder u/s, and endoscopy are done. I called my surgeons officethis AM, she told me to follow up with her to make sure she has everything tocall Aetna. She told me she was going thrucharts, took my number and said she would call me back. As long as everythingis in order she said that approval takes about a week but from what I haveheard it’s normally only a few days. It’s so odd to think that next week Icould potentially have the date for my surgery. It seems so unreal! If everyonecould send me good thoughts so that the insurance approval will be quick andsmooth I would appreciate it! I can’t wait to be a loser biggrin.gif

I hear ya. I am in Canada and because my surgery will be paid for by the Provincial government, things move at a snails pace. My referral went into the surgeon's office last May, my first appointment was on November 30, 2010. Then I have a monthly follow up every month to watch my progress. I have had my endoscope and I am having my pysch eval on March 2. Once all tests are done, I think I will still have a couple of months wait time. I am just anxious to get the surgery over with and start my new life with losing this weight.

Hang in there, you are doing great. We will be healthy, thinner, and more gorgeous than we are today very soon.

Sheila

I also have Aetna and I am currently playing the waiting game. I hope they approve me soon. My paperwork was submitted on the 19th. My insurance rep at the surgeon's office said the bariatric nurse called yesterday from Aetna requesting more clinical information (?). She returned the call but didn't get an answer. I'm so nervous!!! If I don't hear from the surgeon's office tomorrow, I'm calling Aetna to see if they received the information they requested. I'm a micromanager. :o

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
