Fat tumors

Hi All, I have several fat tumors some on my thighs a few on my stomach. I had hopped they would shrink along with the weight loss but they haven't and actually show more. Does anyone else have these? Is surgery the only way to get rid of them?

Hi! I have 2 -- under my armpits (ugh) -- they do shrink a bit, but not much. My husband has one on his side on his rib cage and he's lost a bunch of weight and it really sticks out now. I've heard you can have them removed, but it's hard (they get intertwined with veins, etc.) I think the best thing, if you are serious about getting rid of them, is to talk to a dr. Or maybe wait until you're done losing weight and then have them excised along with any excess skin. :)

I think I have one on my back, along my spine. I actually need to show it to doc. It did shrink a bit, but it is right on the bra line and kind of irritates the skin around it. Feels itchy there. I don't know why I keep ignoring it, I hope it is just fat. My husband says I've had it for years. But now you can see it a lil more bc less fat around it. best wishes.

They are called lipomas (lie-poe-ma) a benign fatty tumor. I had 3 removed last year and a 4th ended up NOT being a lipoma but squamous cell carcinoma, The skin fat surrounding them may shrink but the lipoma will most likely not shrink. Surgery can be performed in a doctors office if they are willing to do it there. They are harmless but unsightly.

I have had 3 removed over the years, I afraid for whats waiting for me once I lose the weight. I am pretty sure the only way to get rid of them is to have them removed.

Ah i have one in my armpit (even when i was much smaller) and i hate it! Glad at least I am not alone with having this stupid thing. Its the main reason i never wear tanks outside the house.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
