lynn5707 0 Posted January 25, 2011 Hi, I have been debating on having some type of WLS for the past year. I went to a surgeon 3/1/2010, and my BMI barely was 40.0. They told me at the time that my insurance would only cover RNY, and I really wanted sleeve. Well, I have made app'ts and cancelled over the past year and now my insurance has changed. They now require 3 month supervised diet (which my doctor does anyway) and two years previous weight, which I will be close to 40.0 - but maybe around 38 or 39. I am 53 years old. Anyway, I think I am going to call surgeon tomorrow to see if my insurance will cover sleeve. I have read on obesity help that Federal BCBS is starting to cover the sleeve. I need to have a psych app't & my 2nd and 3rd weight loss app't then if I'm approved can have surgery. I am just so embarrassed that I cannot do this alone. I have been on every diet, and just cannot get it together. Any words of wisdom on how I should proceed??? I live in Indianapolis. Thanks!

I'm not sure I can answer your particular question regarding your Insurance, but I do hope someone out there on the boards can. We have many folks who have had their surgeries funded in many different ways. All the best to you on your journey! The sleeve is so worth the wait!
