Seeking Primare Care Physician in NJ

Recommended Posts

All,

I'm hoping for a PCP recommendation in northern NJ area. I've spoken with a few drs (just to get a physical) and they were hesitant to take me because I have a band). I've explained that I"m not looking for a surgeon, just a regular doctor with some basic knowledge of the life of a bandster but i've been unsuccessful.

Anyone love their PCP and can recommend?

I live in Hoboken...I'll have to see how far Madison is from that area since i'm pretty new to NJ. I got a suggestion from Alexandra but he would not take me because someone else did my band.

I have a great one, but she is closer to Central Jersey. I will ask around for you though

That doesn't make any sense, Gypj. You were looking for a PCP, right? Not a surgeon? What kind of care are you trying to get?

In any event, if you live in Hoboken it'd be easier for you to get to the city than to Montville or Madison. You're MILES away from Morris County!!

I'm sorry that you're having so much trouble finding a PCP in NJ. I would recomend visiting the following website and contacting one of the bariatric surgeons listed and inquire with them as to a lap band friendly/knowledgeable PCP.

I would recommend my former PCP in the Lawrenceville/Princeton area but I know that's too far for you to travel. By the way, her name is Dr. Shari Diamond. She's a great PCP and was the one that diagnosed me with PCOS about 6 years ago.

Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
