If the Gummy Vitamins gives you 100% daily value of the recommended vitamins/nutrients then, yes it's okay. The labeling for most gummy/chewable Vitamins is usually 2 gummies/chewables per day to get the 100%. Also, have your doctor pull labs to check Vitamin levels pre-op to ensure that you aren't low in anything before surgery. If your levels are good pre-op, then they should be monitored post-op to ensure that Vitamin is still working for you. It's difficult to play catch up on deficiencies so make sure you're getting in what your body needs.

You'll need to add a B12 sublingual into your regimen. The portion of the stomach that is removed is responsible for the intrinsic factor that helps B12 be absorbed properly. Without this factor, you can become deficient rather quickly. You can pick up sublingual b12 at Walmart or any pharmacy, just look for the ones that say "sublingual". You'll pop it under your tongue and allow it to dissolve.

I take the gummy vitamins, too. My surgery is on Tuesday. They haven't told I need to switch afterwards, so I am going to continue taking them. (Nice to have something to chew! LOL!! As I'm now on day 3 of liquids!! Blah! Never realized that if only liquids go in - only liquids come out. Sounds like a given, but til I went thru it....)

You might want to ask your nutritionist about this. When I asked her specifically about Gummy Vitamins she said they won't give me 100% of what I need.

She gave me a list of what they recommend to their sleeve patients....Resource optisource chewable Vitamins-4 times a day or Centrum chewable multivitamins-2 times a day. Calcium Supplement-from 1 wk to 3 months after surgery, 1200-1500 mg of chewable or liquid calcium citrate.

Just sharing what I was told. Your nutritionist may have another suggestion as per your surgeon's orders.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
