Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on Dec 22nd and have lost 22 lbs so far. I too am having a problem coordinating the drinking and eating. Its seems like I can find the time to eat but not drink, maybe getting 42 ozs a day. My stomach growls a lot and loud, is anyone having that issue?

I had my surgery 12/29/10 and am feeling great! I am down 25+ lbs and still losing. I feel a little guilty because (knock on wood) I haven't had many of the problems I have read about in this forum. I did have a couple of days of crying, but everything seems sunny right now. I know every day is a new challenge and I am ready to face whatever comes my way.

I haven't had my surgery yet so this may sound silly but, why crying?

Hi there. I was sleeved on Dec 14th...Im down 29#s since surgery, 48#'s over all...which in all reality is totally AWESOME!!! Overall,Im doing very well, just still trying to learn the right ways to eat and struggling to find liquids I like to drink. Its crazy how anything sweet makes me sick to my stomach now, even with artificial sweetener...weird....but Im trying.

Its all a learning process, and Im still learning, but I love the results! I have gone from a size 24 pair of jeans, to a size 18 now!!!!! and my hubby is calling me skinny (of course far from it, but I love him telling me :) )

That is so awesome! I too do not have a loving relationship with sugar...something has definitely changed in that respect. You started at the same size I did, I am still wearing my clothes looser but still the same so I do not feel skinny, my goal is to be able to shop in a Large regular then I will calm down, feel a bit more relaxed. But heck the way I look at it is I am doing way better than I ever did and that means a lot. Have you tried buying a bottle of your liking at Walmart and filling it up with lemonade crystal light etc, I drink crystal light all day not my favorite but I drink so much liquids that I wonder if that's what's causing my stallscared.gif. Who knows...I just have to grab my board and ride this wavelol.gif!

Good luck!

Be glad, and I am glad the crying is done with, I was crying a lot before the surgery;) the way I was managing my body was worth many tears. But now I feel like things are looking up and I am glad I found out about the sleeve before I went with the band...not knowing the sleeve existed!! OUCH!biggrin.gif

My stomach growls but I just ignore it, what is most difficult and annoying for me about drink vs eating is that I used to do both together so now...when my instinct kicks in and I want to have a bite of chicken followed by a gulp of lemonade the horrible feeling has kept me traumatized that I don't even try. I am learning to space my eating and drinking, but for me that's like AMAZING because as long as I remember being alive there has been bread and Water at the table. Get lots of crystal light the flavor you most love for me it is lemonade and just keep drinking and filling it all say. I go through 3-20oz bottles per day on Crystal light and wake up thirsty as heck-what's up with that??LOL

I was sleeved 12/10. I mostly feel great. I am happy that I have lost 24 pounds already. So today was the last egg for awhile. My husband was sleeved four weeks ahead of me. When we go out to dinner, we share one chicken breast and potatoe (mashed or baked) and usually have left-overs! Our instructions were not as strict as some on here, so I had one week of liquid, then started mushies and progressed to chicken fairly quickly. I wanted to chew! But, very careful about small amounts abd chewing well. I am finding eggs aren't working for me. On Sundays, before church our family goes to Breakfast and part of the egg fills me up too much, and I don't feel well for awhile. My big problem is thta I eat too fast -- old bad habit that I am trying to break. When I was first sleeved, I had ot slow down, it would take me a half hour to eat a half cup of Soup, including two trips to reheat in the microwave. Now that I can eat a bit more, I forget sometimes and eat too fast. I get the hiccups, so I know I have done it to myself!

One other small problem - zero excercise - I hurt my knee just after Christmas and have to have the torn miniscus fixed - Feb 3. After that, I plan to walk at lunch with coworkers. This week, my daughters and I are going to fit swimming in 2 times.

I am a huge advocate for the sleeve! I know I can do this and I know I will be healthier!

Ouchsad.gif! Linda eating fast does hurt, has happened to me, the worst is chicken...THAT not chewed well=MISERY meats in general do that I have to sit there and treat it as gum:LOL

Was sleeved on December 10th and loving my sleeve so far!! I feel great and feel completely differently about food than I did a couple months ago.

It's nonsensical for me to think about how I have MORE energy now although I'm eating about 1/5 of what I was before.

Sleeved December 29, I am also in a stall for 2 weeks. I started going to the gym at 2 weeks out and worked out for a good week. Then I got my period and felt like death for a week. Didn't do much. Got back to it last week and have burned about 6,000 calories in the last 7 days. I've been doing weight training to tone up these muscled and help take some room up with this flabby skin I am going to have. I have been doing Zumba and other classes. I did two Zumba classes today. :-)

I have been using the EAS Myoplex Protein powder as I get it cheap at Sam's club. That with my skim milk is 40 grams a shake. I had Vegan sausage, egg beaters and fat free mozerella sprinkled on top for dinner. My fat brain made enough for 3 servings, so I have Breakfast in the fridge. LOL .... I get my fluids in and trying to take ALL my supplements. I don't know why I have stalled at 27# lost, but I am hoping that once my body realizes what exercise is, that the weight will start to fall off again. That initial drop gets your hopes up and the stall is really discouraging. I decided to do the two classes today to try and really kick start the loss again. Oh well, sooner or later, it will go away!

Hi All - Sleeved on Dec, 21st. Definitely stalled week 3 after 25lb weight loss. Upped my cals and my Water - stall broke...YAY!

struggling with psychological stuff more than physical - I live in NYC, the food capital of the world, so it's a challenge to be "out and about" and not partake in MANY things!! It's not that I'm hungry or even need/want to eat - it's just that I know I shouldn't or can't.

typical day menu..

Carnation No Sugar Added chocolate shake

1/2 c Fage no fat greek yogurt with 1 splenda & 1/4 pureed no sugar added fruit cup

cheese wedge (laughing cow or mini babybel - Low Fat)

another shake or 1/2 c Soup

ice pop or teaspoon Peanut Butter

drink Special K protein/fiber pink lemonade powder in Water (2 per day) 30 cals each(5 mg protein/5 mg fiber)

having a difficult time with pure Proteins (like salmon, chicken, turkey)

deli meat has been okay but must eat very slowly

wishing everyone luck...

had my first NSV today - someone whom I haven't seen in months called me Skinny! ,Believe me, I have a LONG WAY to go but she noticed which was AWESOME!!

It's 230am and I can't sleep either. I'm only 4 days post op so I'm wondering if I've been resting too much recently or lack of calories is keeping me awake.

I was sleeved on Dec. 1st. Had an easy recovery and am able to meet my Protein requirement through food alone. I lost 11 lbs. on the pre-op diet, and 24 lbs. since surgery. I've been in a stall for 3 weeks now, and feeling very down about that. My calorie intake has been around 600/per day, protein 60 grms. and carbs under 30grms. I tried upping carbs and calories a little for the last few days and have gained a pound! I'm so frustrated, and really don't know what to do next. For now I'm going back to the lower calories and lower carbs that I was doing before. Exercise has been walking for me. I have pretty bad arthritis in my back, hips and knees, so walking will have to do until I'm able to get some more weight off. I think I'll try upping my protein and Water and see if that does it.

I was also sleeved on 12/1 and im down about 46 pounds. I have been stalled for a week but im hoping this is hormonal. Hang in there :)

I was sleeved Dec 1st and down a total of 42 lbs. I am on regular foods but I am lucky to eat more then 1/4 c at a time. This is making it hard to get past 500 calories in a day. :( I am getting in my 60 grams of Protein and but still a little low on the fluids. I work all day on phones and keep forgetting to drink between the back to back calls. I have been stalled at 188 for a week. I am hoping this wont last long. I am still at my lowest weight since 1988 and I am buying clothes in regular stores--no more lane bryant or avenue for me. Hanging in there. B)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
