6 days post-op feeling droopy

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved 6 days ago and still feel very droopy. I know it must be the change in diet but I would have thought I would have a little more energy. My incisions don't hurt but bother me, I still have my staples in. Am I missing something in my diet?

What are you eating (well - drinking, at your stage)?

How much Protein are you getting in per day?

I have heard you can still have the anesthetic, in you for up to weeks afterwards making you feel tired. I am 10 days post op and still take a nap every day. Protein helps. Have you tried Isopure? It comes in a variety of flavors and taste like Kool-aid. One bottle which is 20 ounces and 40 grams of protein really help me get my protein. It takes me all day to drink a bottle along with my Water. I get mine at Vitamin Shoppe.< /p>

Hope that helps!

I am at 5 days. I feel pretty good, much better than before! I guess about the same as you. I am not getting in all my Protein yet.. so far 32gms by lunch which is better than yesterday. I try to work on my Water from the minute I get up, this is the most important right off (three cups by lunch). I find that warm camomile and peppermint tea go down pretty well. At first anything sweet just made me want to retch... I had a fuzzy navel drink this morning and it was ok. So I guess my tastes are getting better. My energy is better, but I feel it when I walk very far (about a block and a half is it for now). I also use my "blower" to help my lung function. I am also trying to get in some carbs... blended bean Soup, to help with energy and some protein. Good luck! Keep in touch.

I am having the same problem I have only been able to drink one Protein drink this week. And I am having trouble drinking enough. It just feels like it gets stuck right at the top of my tummy. What am I doing wrong. I want this to be a sucess.

Surgery done on Jan 17th by Dr. David Kim.

Perhaps drink it even slower/smaller sips? I would tap on my chest a bit, and a bubble would come up and make room for the liquid sometimes... after the bubble I could take another small sip.

I feel like I can drink a lot... it makes getting in liquids easy, but I hope this doesn't mean my restriction is less in the future....

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
