laser skin tightening

Recommended Posts

Hi all

its been long time since I posted (I think I'll give an updat on another forum)

anyway... I thought I'd let you know I'm doing a laser skin tightening procedure called Velasmooth (I saw an add for velashape in the upper corner...same thing)

Anyway...my upper arms are pretty bad... I have all these elephant looking folds around the inside of my elbow and the inner soft skin looks like I'm 105 all the way from elbow to arm pit...

I lift weights 4x per week, vocusing heavily on that area. That being said, I'm 45 years old with a super fair complextion (red hair and freckels). I went to see a surgeon and he said that was the absolute worst skin type for this type of thing and I shouldnt expect a lot of improvement without intervention. Of course he wanted to do surgery and leave a big scar.

I am trying the new laser skin tightening treatments. I just started last week. I am doing 15 treatments over 15 weeks. They use this suction vaccume thingy and it gets everything really hot... they check to make sure my skin temp is at least 104 before moving to another area. It doesn't hurt... just feels kinka weird.

I'm paying $3000 dollars. The company (american laser) has their own financing company so I'm paying interest free over 2 years. I'm a little scared because I don't have a lot of money and I am really going to feel that $125 a month. If It works it will be so worth it to not have to wear half sleeves in the 100 degree heat this summer. If it doesn't I'm going to be sooooooo disapointed.

They say it will definately get my loose skin and will probably tighten the second wave webbing under my arm. They threw in my abs for free since I have a little crepe papery area under my navel.

I will keep you guys posted

My fingers are crossed

Stacey

Sounds great. $3000, is nothing to sneeze at, but is still much cheaper and sounds much less invasive than plastic surgery. I can't wait to hear how it works for your.

Let me know how it goes. I got something like 5 sessions of Velashape at a mad discount (like $40 per session, I think?), just haven't gotten around to using it. I found some research on it - it looks like it has only been tested on the thigh area, which is fine by me, as that's where the last of my weight is being held. It looked like up to 80% of people experienced between 1 and 3" reduction in thigh circumference after 1 session. The only downside appeared to be some pain and potential bruising associated with it. I'm curious as to how painful it's gonna be.

blackberryjuice..

I didn't find it painful at all. Sometimes it gets a little hot but not a big deal. It kind of feels good on my abs. They told me it works great on the inner thighs... but that dimpely stuff on the back of the thighs is pretty resistant. Great deal on the 40 bucks... I'll post on this thread when I start seeing results. I wish I had a camera. Maybe I will ask the clinic to e-mail me my before pics

Can't wait to hear more. 3,000 is a lot of money but if it works without a big scar , it' worth every penny.

I've been reading reviews on line... they arn't very good. A lot of people seem to be saying they saw no results. Yikes!!! I hope i didn't waste my money.

DId you just sign up for it? In Texas you can cancel anything in writing within 3 days. Maybe better to pay as you go. Fight it.

I do stuff like that and I get so mad afterwards.

Its been a couple of weeks since I signed the loan papers and I've had 2 of my 15 treatments. I don't know why I don't research things first... ARG!!!! Well.... I'm hoping for the best. Maybe its wishful thinking but I think I already see a bit of improvement. The reviews indicated that it doesnt always work so hot for melting and smoothing cellulite... thats not really what I'm after.... I'm after the skin tightening effect... so ... I'm keeping my fingers crossed

thanks

stacey

Just remember everyone is different! I did have a friend that did this on her thighs and it didn't work. She is still glad she tried it. Now she is 57 so like I said everyone is different. I'm hoping yours is a success! GOOD LUCK!

Hi Guys....

Well I just had treatment number 4 of my 15. I have talked to two tecs about results and one said she sees good results in about 50% and the other one just gushed about how great the thing works. Probably the 50% girl is the most reliable source.

I do think I am seeing very slight results. Not in the batwing.... but in the elephant skin on the inner arm and elbow. It may just be wishful thinking... if its there it is ever so slight.

Fingers crossed still

Is this the same treatment as thermacool/thermage ?...That tightens the collagen layer beneath the skin....

its the same concept..... deep heat to stimulate collagen. I think they use a different mechanism though. One laser and high freuency radio waves....something like that.

Thanks for posting and keep us updated! I am very interested in your progress.

I know I'll need some surgery but if I can have some non-surgical help on the inner thighs, I'll be happy.

Good luck!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
