I don't think the pain can get any worse!!

Recommended Posts

Sunday night I ate something that didn't agree with me and I got sick sick sick.. The vomiting was so bad I pulled a muscle in my left shoulder. I called the doctor on Tuesday because crazy me I figured it was just lingering gas pains. Well it wasn't the nurse told me they see it alot when some one gets sick the way that I did. The force from the vomiting and cause major problems. I got it looked at and thank goodness nothing was wrong with my stomach "biggest fear when the pain started" The muscle right above my left breast and just below my colar bone is apparently pulled or strained as they called it. I opted not to take pain meds because of all the pills I just got finished with because of the H. Pylori Bacteria. It has been 4 days now and I am taking it as easy as I can with 2 kids and a demanding household, but good grief it feels like the pain is getting worse. If I take a hot shower/long hot bath the pain subsides long enough for me to get to sleep. By the time morning comes it starts hurting again by the time I go to bed I am in so much pain it hurts to breath. I have noticed an increase in my heartbeat and it has me worried.. Is there anything I can do to make this pain go away? The doctors not concerned about it because they see it often, but I am.. I am not very good with handleing pain and this has me to the point of wanting to curl up on the couch and cry. If it's happend to you what in the world did you do to ease the pain? Tylenol isn't helping by the way "I know I will take tylenol but not vicoden crazy woman" Please Help!!

Get the pain meds filled along with a stool softener (narcotics slow the bowels, and you don't want to deal with constipation), see if they'll give you Toradol, it's not a narcotic. . . Or see if you can take some liquid children's ibuprofen just promise them you'll take it with some pudding or yogurt on your stomach.

No suggestions, but will be praying for you. If you don't believe your doctor at a certain point get a second opinion. Don't wait too long. Overly confident doctors are sometimes wrong. They need to be cautious.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
