Hello. I just had my surgery yesterday, and I'm feeling pretty good, considering. I've been good to get up and walk around, so I haven't had any gas pain. I have a little bit of surgery site tenderness, but it's really not that bad. I am feeling pretty good about my decision, but I'm quite a bit heavier than you. Yeah, I'm only one day out, but I feel just fine. Do your research, talk to some docs.

Good luck!

Charts I've looked at list the healthy weight range for someone 4' 11" as 107 - 134 pounds. Why would you sleeve for that? Your insurance couldn't possibly approve it.

Have you gone to medical professionals to check for medical issues that could cause weight gain? I really can't believe any decent and moral surgeon would perform surgery on you with only 17lbs to get into a healthy BMI, but then again, I guess you could find someone to do it.

I wouldn't put my body through this type of surgery to lose 17-30lbs. No way in hell.

My suggestions/advice since you asked, go to your doctor, have some lab work pulled, and then meet with a licensed dietician to get on a good solid eating plan. that will help you lose your weight.

You are clearly not a canditate for this surgery. This is a major surgery for the obese. You need to look into non-surgical options such as Weight Watchers. Good Luck

I agree...This surgery is mostly for health, not looks. Many of the people here have health related problems brought on by weighing too much. Its not a weight loss fad or fancy... It hurts and affects how you live the rest of your life. You need to weigh the problems you have with your over weight, against all the problems and restrictions you get from the surgery. You could DIE from this surgery. Many of the problems people here have from their overweight can kill them too, so the surgery makes sense. Get on a good plan to lose your 17+ pounds. Good luck with that, I know 17 pounds can make you miserable too!

I also agree with Tiff. You should see a doctor and just do a medically supervised diet plan. You don't have that much to lose. It would not be worth it to do that to your body for just 30 or so pounds! Good luck.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
