Txchickadee 2 Posted January 20, 2011 Hi everyone ...I'm new here and I was so happy to find so many stories like mine.. After a life of dealing with being overweight I got sleeved on Tuesday Jan 11!!! The first day was really bad but quickly became better and now I feel great! At my 1 week post op I had lost 20lbs which is from 2 weeks before surgery ! so that was very exciting! I've been walking around my neighborhood but was wondering when any of you went back to the gym or did any weights?? -alma
bloomin_vjf 1 Posted January 21, 2011 My surgeon told me to wait 8 weeks post-op. I don't mind... I have a friend that did strength training a couple of weeks following laparoscopic surgery and has a nice big hernia to show for it. I don't want to risk it. I'm 1-1/2 weeks away from restarting with my trainer. I can't wait!
Becca 108 Posted January 21, 2011 Congrats!!! The first day was not fun for me either, but I felt pretty good by day two. My doctor said I can do arm/leg workouts with weights at four weeks, just no abs until 8 weeks. I am hoping to go back to the gym next week. Awesome job on your weight loss! hopeandfaith 6 Posted January 21, 2011 Hello alma, I was sleeved the same day as you and I was doing GREAT then I went grocery shopping Wednesday...now I have a little pain. Not bad but I was doing so good I sure hope I didn't mess up. My Doctor told me NOT to pick up anything over 10 pounds. I've been walking around the yard but not getting on my Treadmill just yet. Just be careful but I would ask your Doctor. I have my first appointment with him since my surgery next Thursday.
